Augustów Lake District

A land fueled by nature, waters of blue lakes, meandering rivers and unspoilt forests of Augustów Primeval Forest. Here lies the Green Lung of Poland – Wigry and Biebrza National Park, and Suwałki Landscape Park.

A well-developed waterways, immensity of lakes and rivers, and our famous historic Augustów Canal – a jewel of water architecture, a unique structure beautifully merging with the landscape of primeval forests, a well-balanced fusion of natural and cultural aspects of human heritage. It is a cross-border area which connects three borders, namely: Polish, Belorussian, and Lithuanian. Moreover, in 1968, the Augustów Canal was declared a monument of Polish technology.

All of these make Augustów Lake District a perfect place for active leisure, especially kayaking trips, fishing, cruises, mushrooming.

Almost every year, sailing and water skiing enthusiasts gather by Necko (411 ha.), Rospuda (107 ha.), Białe (488 ha.), Sajno (531 ha.), and Studzieniczne (254 ha.) Lakes.
